Minute 1/2/05/2023: Recollection

Members gathered and the agenda was read. Samuel Waliggo and Tom Mukasa took turns to moderate the meeting

Action: Meeting in progress

Minute 2/2/05/2023: Community Outreach Commodities

Samuel Waliggo shared the list of the items we needed to use for the launch and allocated duties to everyone present. The list included the places to reach out to and the various IEC Materials to use.

Tom Mukasa shared the different IEC Materials to go out with and the members present each chose to display the different materials.

Action:

The commodities to take to the field are:

A.   Reflector Jackets

B.   IEC Materials e.g., The Focused VMMC Demand Creation Poster, Champion Poster, the HIV Must Not Win Poster, the PEPFAR Uganda Posters X 2, the title Poster (Focused Demand Creation for VMMC Services Among Males and Young Men Aged 15 years of Kimaanya-Kabonera Subcounty of Masaka District During the launch, a list of five (5) Boda Stages in Kimaanya-Kabonera Sub-County namely; Gaz Boda-Boda Stage, Kobil Stage, Yellow knife Stage.

C.   The Objectives Poster which highlighted:

a.     Strategic involvement of Boda-Boda Riders in influencing peers to participate in health-seeking practices reducing risks/ vulnerability to HIV infection.

b.    Strengthening the catalytic role to promote behaviour change fostering staying negative attitudes.

D.   The Activity Poster which highlighted:

a.     Launching the “My Safety, My Health! Health is My Choice! Strategy

b.    Use the knowledge, skills and attitude (KSA) transfer to empower Boda-Boda Riders to perform roles of influencers and champions.

c.     Conduct a physical capacity building meeting with Boda-Boda Riders to empower them to play the HIV Prevention Influencer and Champion roles.

 

E.   The Tasks of an HIV Prevention Influencer or Champion Poster that highlighted three soft skills namely:

a.     Self Esteem Behaviour Change Skill. This emphasized conducting oneself responsibly

b.    Self-recognition/Self-Awareness Skill. This emphasized being aware that one has a duty to be a peer. Therefore, it called for avoiding recklessness in form of irresponsible practices, exposure to risks, exposure to vulnerabilities and avoid keeping destructive company

c.     Self-preservation Skill. This emphasized engaging in practices reducing risks and vulnerability to HIV. These included such strategies like:

1.    Abstinence

2.    Being faithful to a partner (fidelity)

3.    Correct and consistence condom use in every sexual act

4.    Disclosure of one’s status/Drug Adherence (ART, PrEP, PEP and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections)

d.    Ensure we address stigma and discrimination

e.     Early Testing

f.     Partner Notification

g.    Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision

Minute 3/2/05/2023: The Talking Points

The Tasks of an HIV Prevention Influencer or Champion Poster that highlighted three soft skills was made into the talking point.

Action: Tom Mukasa and Rachael O. were asked to take over as the interlocutors of the outreach

 

Minute 4/2/04/2023 Venue Validation

Samuel Waliggo told the meeting that he had earlier on reached out to the Boda-Boda Riders’ leader who in turn had informed the Riders about the event. A list of the names was shared and names read during the meeting.

Action: Samuel Waliggo read the names outloud and it was decided that we start with the nearest and move to the ones farther out.

Minute 5/2/04/2023 Implementing

The team agreed to hold the messages, don the reflector jackets and form the backdrop against which the Boda-Boda Riders would be able to read the messages as well as passers-by.

The camera person was asked to take pictures from any angle to create further evidence of occurrence of the launch.

Minute 6/2/04/2023 Adjournment

Samuel Waliggo took members through the highlights and after called for an end to the meeting.

Action: The members proceeded to conduct the launch
